Formula SAE Race Car Chassis
This was our 2017 Senior Design Project.
Goal: Design an ergonomic chassis weighing 50 lbs (~22.7 kg) that complies with FSAE rules, and maintains a torsional stiffness of at least 700 ft-lbs/deg (~950 N*m/deg). The resulting stiffness-to-weight ratio shall not be lower than 14 ft*lbf/deg/lbs (~41.8 N*m/deg/kg).
System diagram mock-up, our project was concerned with the systems in blue within the dashed lines. We also included the Anti-Intrusion Plate and Impact Attenuator.
